Blog Hop: How My Kids' Food Allergies Have Helped Me To GROW

I've learned a menagerie of lessons as a food allergy mom, but there is one that has stretched me more than any other.

Advocacy and people-pleasing can't co-exist.

Why has this truth been so significant for me? Well, I am a people pleaser to my core. I always have been. This part of my personality is deeply ingrained, and it's always made it extraordinarily difficult for me to speak up sometimes, even when I know it's the right thing to do.

Enter my boys' food allergies... Well, this has been a game-changer for me. I'm not going to lie and But, put this in the context of mothering, and it changes everything. I'm my boys' biggest advocate, and in order to protect them, I have to push back against some of my biggest insecurities and be brave. I am their voice.

While I'm a work in progress, I could not be more grateful for how this lesson has pushed me to grow.
